The History of Our Club

During the months running up to the 21st Anniversary of the Bulldog Bash, August 2007, it was noticed that quite a number of likeminded people were travelling to the event either alone or in small groups.

A simple post was placed onto the Bulldog Bash Forum by Steve asking if anyone would like to meet up at the Bulldog to commemorate the 21st Anniversary and party together. This post was immediately followed up by Scottie and Baz. Over the coming weeks more and more people requested an invite to the group and so it grew to approximately 30 people who had never met before save chatting in the Bulldog Forum. Mobile phone numbers were exchanged, meeting places were arranged, flags were bought and even tents were painted in order the group could come together and were able to camp in, or around, the same area to enjoy the party and each others company. The three main sources of information and contact seemed to become Scottie, Baz and Steve.

The plan to meet up gained momentum and was soon fuelled by a phrase that was to become the official word of that first gathering. The word, posted by Scottie, seemed to sum up the enthusiasm of all those meeting and everything that was expected of them. It became synonymous with each and every subsequent message posted. It was fun, it was vibrant and it was “SILLYBUGGERYNESS”.

Most of those from the forum that made it to the Bulldog Bash met at some point during the 4-day party and the event was deemed a success. Despite nobody having met previously, it was obvious that life long friendships had formed and the group would be back, possibly bigger, for more Sillybuggeryness at Bulldog 22.

In the weeks following Bulldog 21 Sillybuggeryness was still very much prevalent in the forum. The momentum was still building and the excitement of that first meeting exploded into the need for unionism, the need for joining together, the need for friendship and brotherhood. Sillybuggeryness had no option but to expand and the initial members fuelled the formation of a club that would unite us all. Within seven days a Front Patch had been decided, although the initial design had to be changed because someone “borrowed” the graphics off the Internet !!!

Thanks to the continued enthusiasm of all members, the graphics of the patch designed by Mike and the determination shown by Scottie we now have a patch to be worn with pride and Sillybuggeryness the Rally Club is finally born.

The Patch.

The design of the patch needed to display exactly what the club was about. We needed a “silly” image that would portray the fun we discovered at the Bulldog Bash with an element leaning towards the motorcycle. We didn’t require the patch to alienate those without two wheels hence the overall fun element. After much deliberation and the hard work of Mike, the designer and Scottie, the producer, the above design was finally agreed and produced. The Handle Bars portraying the two-wheeled element, the Jester for its renowned silliness with the expression showing the wild and wicked party animal in all of us and the surrounding flames representing the fire and enthusiasm that fuelled what would become Sillybuggeryness Rally Club.

Sillybuggeryness was created to be a Front Patch Rally Club and the Patch would need to be worn on the Left Hand Breast Pocket area of a jacket or cut off jacket.

Membership.

It was decided very early on that membership to Sillybuggeryness Rally Club would be open to all that could show a commitment to the reason we formed the club. That reason was to give likeminded Rally goers the opportunity to meet up with others and have fun, party and generally encounter the camaraderie experienced by other Motorcycle Clubs that travel together but without the more serious aspect or politics of an MCC or MC. The club would be available to Males and Females of any culture, colour or creed and need not require they travel solely on two wheels, although this would be actively encouraged to promote the freedom experienced of motorcycling.

Those who showed the commitment and enthusiasm that brought us together at Bulldog 21 and went on to attend the first informal Annual General Meeting held at the Pebley Inn would become, and would be known, as the founder members. As a non-political and informal Rally Club we really want to steer away from the hierarchy synonymous with an MCC or MC but at the same time an element of organisation, administration and regulation has to be present or we will find ourselves getting into trouble with other clubs. Rather than appoint Club Officers we would rather all members be involved in the running of the Club and for the Club to remain as diplomatic as possible. For that reason the Founder Members will become the point of contact for all members and will form a committee. The Patch cannot be freely available to just anyone. New members would be required to attend an initial Rally or Party to introduce them-selves to the Club and then prove the commitment by attending a further rally before being issued with the patch after a third event. Once issued all members would be required to attend at least three rallies per year. One of which would have to be the Bulldog Bash. The Bulldog Bash would serve to become an anniversary event for Sillybuggeryness and attendance by all members would be expected. Due to the success of the first meeting at the Pebley Inn, it has also been suggested to keep this weekend event in our calendar in the form of an informal Annual General Gathering to be held during October of each year. This would serve as an ending of the rally season and could possibly be used as the event where new members are issued with a patch and formally accepted into Sillybuggeryness RC.

All members would be expected to show and understand the responsibility of wearing the Sillybuggeryness Patch and to respect the roots from whence the club was formed. Respect to other clubs would also be expected and promoted. Disrespect to either would need to be taken seriously to prevent any form of unnecessary backlash from unwanted behaviour. Sillybuggeryness was formed to be a fun club for fun people to enjoy the friendship of others and to encourage the lifestyle enjoyed on two wheels and whilst attending rallies or parties. This needs to be remembered and supported at all times.

It is also essential for all members to keep an active involvement with the Sillybuggeryness Forum as this will become an indispensable form of communication between current members and, as importantly, new members.

Sillybuggeryness Rally Club must remain non-political.

The Future.

Given the enthusiasm and commitment already shown by all members there seems no limits to where Sillybuggeryness Rally Club can escalate. A winter party has already been enjoyed during October 2007 with the founder members travelling from various locations within the UK and will, hopefully, become an annual event possibly the AGM of Sillybuggeryness RC. The forum, although quiet of late, is already beginning to fill with options for rallies and events we could attend and we would expect the interest in membership to swell as more people visit Our Forum as the year progresses and we get closer to the Bulldog Bash 2008. Hopefully those visiting the forum can discover new friends that they can now meet up with rather than arrive alone at rallies. It has also been suggested, and welcomed, that the club takes off on a national tour of the UK. Each individual member will be chosen to host other members in their local area for more sillybuggeryness. Hopefully this will take off and we can all become more acquainted with each other’s locale forming even stronger bonds of brotherhood between members of the club. Whatever the future holds for Sillybuggeryness RC we can rest assured that it will involve a huge amount of fun, friendship, parties and, of course, SILLYBUGGERYNESS.

Summary.

Sillybuggeryness Rally Club is a non-political Rally/Party club formed to encourage attendance at organised events, to allow likeminded people to come together for sillybuggeryness times and promote the motorcycling lifestyle.

Rules and Regulations to be kept to a minimum to allow the club to become less restrictive and further enhance the fun element and family environment.

All those interested in becoming members are invited to introduce themselves through this web site, (the ideal way of doing this is to join us in "OUR FORUM" that can be accessed by clicking the tab on this site) or at an organised event and then, should they be found to be suitable and remain committed enough to attend a second event and third event within 12 months, will receive a patch and be welcomed into the world of Sillybuggeryness.

Lastly, Sillybuggeryness Rally Club belongs to all active, patch-wearing members and all suggestions are welcome. It can’t work without our complete involvement so lets ride it like we stole it and take the club to new levels of Sillybuggeryness.
